How it works

Urban Foraging Map NZ is a free, easy to use map for finding fruit & nut trees. To see what’s growing near you, just open the map to view your local area & add your own markers if you find a fruit or nut tree!

What is Urban Foraging?

Gathering food from publicly accessible fruit & nut trees in towns and cities is known as urban foraging. It’s a growing movement all around the world.

Why forage?

Eating locally grown fruit & nuts is good for you and good for the planet.  An abundance of free food could be in your neighbourhood, depending where you live & the time of year.

Urban Foraging Map NZ is free for anyone to use and we welcome contributions from the community. To get started just register with your email address. Any markers you add will be shared on the main map.  You can then view either the public map or your own map which only displays markers you’ve added.
